  • Overview

    We have an immediate opening for Senior Network Engineer to support the Naval Enterprise Networks (PMW 205). This role requires a senior network engineer to assist the Navy with planning network modernization activities and addressing the complexities of creating a network architecture that will support the transition to cloud-based services. The successful candidate must demonstrate a balance of technical knowledge and experience with good written and oral communications skills. This role requires the ability to convey complex ideas effectively to executive leadership in plain language, and the ability to collaborate with technical subject matter experts to solve complex design problems. Candidate must have a deep understanding and extensive experience with large scale network architectures with exposure to a wide range of different networking technologies including, but not limited to software defined networking SDN, software defined WAN, Multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), WAN optimization, VPNs, internal and external routing protocols including experience with IPv6.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic recommendations and analyze requirements in the form of white papers, Business Case Analysis (BCA), technology and business roadmaps, authoring and editing Statement of Objectives (SOOs) to the vendor, and by engaging in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) as required by the Program Office.
    • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise for network transport technologies including, but not limited to: BAN/LAN/WAN, VoIP, VTC, WAN Acceleration, VLAN, DMZ, Cisco IOS, WLAN, MPLS, QOS, NAT, IPv4, IPv6
    • Evaluate technical designs and provide quality assurance reviews
    • Particpate in collaborative technology planning sessions
    • Identify, document and report on project risks including technical risks, and cost schedule and performance risks

    Qualifications

    • Minimum SECRET clearance
    • Bachelors degree or equivalent related experience preferably in an engineering discipline related to computer engineering, , networking, telecommunications or similar field.
    • Minimum 7 years’ experience as a network engineer
    • Experience with circuit engineering (circuit analysis, circuit design).
    • Experience with IP Protocols including IPv6, MPLS, OSI Layers and Network Management
    • Must have strong troubleshooting, technical writing and communication skills.
