Overview

Falconwood is a woman-owned, veteran-owned company providing consultation and programmatic support to Department of Defense Information Technology (IT) initiatives and programs. We provide expert advice and consultation on a diverse range of IT subjects, focusing on acquisition, policy, cybersecurity, engineering, and process development.

The Data Engineer II will provide deep expertise in data pipeline development and architecture in support of the Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) N6 Directorate, contributing to the transformation of Navy data systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

This senior-level data engineering role supports NAVIFOR’s Command Data Office (CDO) and broader analytics and reporting initiatives. The candidate will design, build, and optimize data pipelines that integrate and transform diverse datasets, supporting enterprise-level readiness and decision-making. This position is hybrid (onsite and remote) in Suffolk, VA, with limited travel anticipated.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data processing workflows to support analytics and operational reporting
  • Develop automated data ingestion and transformation routines using Python, SQL, or other languages
  • Build and optimize data architectures to ensure performance, integrity, and security across systems
  • Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to translate mission use cases into data requirements
  • Conduct data profiling, cleansing, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Tune and debug stored procedures, packages, and functions to maximize pipeline performance
  • Support data migration and integration efforts across Navy enterprise systems and cloud platforms

Maintain documentation on data schemas, flow diagrams, and architecture decisions

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in data format conversion and ETL/ELT development using APIs, scripting, and standard tooling (e.g., Python, Airflow, Informatica)
    • At least 2 years working in Agile/Scrum environments with CI/CD pipelines or cloud-based data stacks
  • Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required
  • Technical Skills:
    • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data lakes, or cloud-native storage
    • Familiarity with Navy data systems, cybersecurity compliance, and data security practices a plus
    • Experience with collaborative platforms like Jira, Confluence, Jama, or Git
  • Must have effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to deliver with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay Range

Base pay is $95,000–$105,000, subject to skill level, qualifications, and location.
